A desire to return to Constructed and some notes about the state of things

Posted in Magic on October 20th, 2009 by Sebastian – Be the first to comment

I was going through my (now expansive) magic online collection and noticed just how much more meaning the cards from old have to me. And by old I mean Ravnica. That’s when I started getting into competitive magic. That’s when I had no money and no way to generate cards. So as a result, I strictly played constructed back then. For the past 4 sets, I’ve been playing strictly limited. This goes back to my return to magic after my 4 month departure. I’m now positioned to be playing all of those constructed matches (namely standard, but also Zendikar block, extended, and to a far lesser degree Classic) that I want to. I definitely feel a disconnect with M10, most of Alara and Eventide as I just didn’t play constructed when those sets were in play. Now hopefully, with my constructed mind back in full gear, I’ll be good to go.

Got a deck? Send it to me!

How did the judge miss the trigger?

Posted in General-Random on October 18th, 2009 by Sebastian – Be the first to comment

It makes no sense that nobody slowed the game down and checked the trigger on the Angel of Despair. It’s a clear and deliberate trigger that must happen when the cards come into play. That cost “Van” the game, the match, and fundamentally changed the look of the tournament.

I realize everyone is human, but I feel bad for Van knowing that trigger was missed both by him, the coverage team, and the judges (As for whether Kibler missed it, I’m not going to judge/comment on that. Whether or not he saw it, I don’t blame him for not mentioning it if he did. He clearly had the game lost had the trigger resolved as it should have.)

That said, there should be a caveat when we discuss how Baneslayer Angel beat Progenitus.

Rune Drafting #3 and its reception!

Posted in Magic on December 30th, 2008 by Sebastian – Be the first to comment

Wow. My article has been out for a few hours, and the reception is really great!

I’ve had people comment on how its their favorite article on the site, and people so far seem to like it a lot. This is just an inital reception, but I definitely hope that it continues! I really enjoyed making these videos, but the first two didn’t really receive that much notice. It might have been due to the website crashes that plagued the website back when I made the first two, but definitely this seeing a lot of hits. Hopefully I can keep at it!

Anyway, as my twitter (man it’s so pointless but pretty funny) indicates, I’ve been submitting applications this entire morning. Hopefully I’ll be done by tonight, in which case I can finish up Rune Ramblings (the article) and another edition of Rune’s Drafting. Looking forward to that.

Great video, this is my favorite column on this website!

What can I say. I feels good to be appreciated, and these comments are really cool.

That said, I’m definitely working on improving the video editing I’m doing. Maybe even create an intro song or something.

Alright, you can go view the article here.

I’m going back to working on my applications!

Peace.
