Editing, uploading, and PureMTGO

As I speak, the opening draft videos for Rune Drafting #4 are going up. I hate waiting for uploads to finish, so I figured I will leave my desktop on over night as it uploads both parts of my draft onto youtube.

I just thought I’d update all of you on what’s happening at PureMTGO in terms of my tenure there and the future of the site in general.

Personally, I’ll be continuing to produce Rune’s Ramblings and Rune Drafting articles for the website, which will generally feature my general musings and ramblings about Magic, Rambling focusing on more of the constructed side of things, and drafting focusing on the limited side of things. A third project that is currently in the works is a PureMTGO podcast that I would be a mainstay host of. The podcast is going to be some good fun and I think it’ll definitely take off once we get the structure and hosts down (Joshua and Erik, if you’re reading this, you two better be there with me!!)

Alright, in terms of the website itself, I’ve been getting a fair amount of mail and PMs on MODO in regards to the site’s properties and structure. My fellow writer and friend jamuraa is working on the new website, and I’ve been assured that it’ll be done within a week or so. I can’t wait, it’s going to be smooth and stable and a lot of awesome.

So the future of PureMTGO is pretty bright, and all things considered, it seems that my stay with the website seems pretty concrete right now.

And that’s it for this topic!

On PDC

Posted in Magic on December 30th, 2008 by Sebastian – Be the first to comment

So right now, with applications pretty much finished (MIT chose a funny time to go down for maintenance -.-) , I’m back to working on my latest article about Pauper Magic.

To be honest, the Pauper Magic format, AKA PDC, is something that’s really cool to come about. Sure shuts up a lot of those naysayers who claimed Wizards would never support a format that costs at times nearly nothing. I guess they were wrong.

That said, of course, the format isn’t all that cheap either. Although it doesn’t compare to the 30+ tix Figure of Destinies in Standard, the 10+ tixs fetchlands (in multiples) in Extended (along with the tarmogoyfs and other necessary rares), and the 50+ tixs Force of Wills and ridiculous dual lands of classic, Pauper still carries some “expensive” cards. Notably Armadillo Cloak is 2.43 each on MTGOtraders, and Fireblasts are 1.94.

Again, nothing compared to how much my extended deck costs (in fact, can’t even play standard).

I have to wonder though. Given the fact that PDC 4 man queues pay the same payout as the Classic queues… and Pauper players feasibly can have decks that win that cost under the 3 tix entry versus Classic decks requiring 100s of tixs in order to be competitive…

Doesn’t anyone feel that PDC might be an impediment to the classic community? Just a thought. I recently stopped playing Classic (after I returned from my 4 month break) because of the increasingly high cost of entry of the format, and my inability to keep up. That said, I’ll probably barn a deck for this weekend’s special PE, should I be home.

Anyway, here’s a preview of my next article on PureMTGO about “the Pauper Burn Standard.” It’ll be under my Rune’s Ramblings article type. Look for it sometime in 2009 XD

Enjoy!
