Out of cash and out of luck

Posted in General-Random, Life, School on March 1st, 2009 by Sebastian – Be the first to comment

So I suppose it’s justifable that I tell of stories of my Science Bowl experience in full eventually. However, now is not that time. I’m studying for my Physics C test tomorrow and there are other things taking up my mind right now. Too many things for me to give an accurate retelling of the terrible events that occurred at Science Bowl (for the second year in a row).

That said, I’m offically nigh broke. After paying to send out my Cal Grant forms ($1.42) and purchasing a Pocket Notebook Moleskine (originally $10.95, but I got a 20% discount so I paid 9.48 after tax), I find myself with a balance of just over $100 dollars. And I haven’t even bought Jeffrey’s birthday present yet. I’m still doing free and private tutoring, the free tutoring not bringing in any income, and the private tutoring not bringing in enough. After paying for AP tests, it’s really been downhill since. All the money I had saved from working over winter break just went kapoof. Luckily, I was still able to afford this pocket moleskine, so this blog will get a bit more interesting, as I’ll be able to write down my spontaneous thoughts and hopefully transcribe them into this blog.

Time to get back to studying and eat some dinner.

Trust You, Swim-a-thon, Lifeguarding, and Science Bowl

Posted in Life, School on February 24th, 2009 by Sebastian – Be the first to comment

I finally found the full version of Yuna Ito’s Trust you :D !! I’m soooo happy! you can take a listen to it on youtube here:

It’s such an amazing song. It’s definitely at #1 in terms of my favorite Japanese songs of all time, and slowly creeping up my favorite song of all time. I really want to meet Yuna Ito now. This song is just that good.

In other news, after swimming roughly 180 laps at the Granada Swim-a-thon,  I passed the 500 yards portion of the lifeguard test, so now I just need to attend Rookie school and I can become a lifeguard for the pools in the area. Definitely a good backup in case I don’t get the NSLI-Y program I want to get into.

This is the final week leading up to the Science Bowl competition so I’ll be studying while listening to Yuna Ito :) . I hope nobody else is sick (because I definitely am!)

Article Writing, Podcasting, and Persona 4

Posted in Games, Magic on February 14th, 2009 by Sebastian – Be the first to comment

So as of right now, I’m uploading Rune Drafting #5 onto youtube. That’s two rune drafting articles I’m finishing in the last 12 hours. That’s more than I did all of January. Now that everything has quieted down, with only the Science Bowl competition being the main event coming up, I have time to write articles and what not.

On the topic of articles, I have to say that the podcast got off to a rough start. After the very first edition died due to sound quality errors, the second one was lauded(I wish)  received very poorly by my standards. Then on top of that we were unable to record for 2 sucessive weeks. Luckily, we’ll be in good shape to record this weekend, so look forward to an edition of the Podcast (which name will be revealed later) on President’s day!

Anyway, I’m going to go grab some breakfast before I go to Simrat’s birthday (and get him a gift).  But I’d like to say I’m really enjoying Persona 4 so far. The voice acting however, is not as great as some of the animes, but hopefully it’ll get better :)
